Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Buyer to join our purchasing team. This role oversees the end-to-end procurement function, ensuring the sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of materials and services essential to operations. The Senior Buyer is also responsible for mentoring junior purchasing staff, driving cost savings, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in procurement best practices, vendor management, and contract negotiation, with excellent communication and leadership skills. This is an on-site role that requires strong cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement sourcing strategies to achieve cost savings and strengthen supply chain efficiency
Source and procure raw materials, equipment, supplies, and contracted services to support operations
Negotiate vendor agreements and contracts, securing favorable terms and long-term cost savings
Identify, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships, conducting performance reviews and setting metrics
Collaborate with operations, finance, production, logistics, and leadership to align procurement with business needs
Monitor inventory levels, manage replenishment, and optimize stock control procedures.
Utilize procurement/MRP/ERP systems to forecast demand, schedule orders, and reduce shortages
Conduct market research to stay informed on trends, pricing, and supplier opportunities
Review and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies
Prepare reports on procurement activities, cost savings, and vendor performance.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, ethical sourcing standards, and applicable regulations.
Train and support junior team members, promoting best practices in procurement.
Perform all other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field strongly preferred (high school diploma required)
5–7 years of procurement or purchasing experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role
Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, contract management, and vendor relations
Proficiency with procurement and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle EBS, SAP, or similar)
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive cost savings
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across teams and with suppliers
Ability to work independently and lead within a deadline-driven environment
Additional Information
On-site role requiring regular attendance and coordination with cross-functional teams
Flexible scheduling may be needed for communication with international suppliers
Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
